THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's needs.
