Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
