THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would like to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned beyond her legal profession as she actively served as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law, including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
