Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships, child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law since she was actively an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
