Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's need.
